THE LEGEND & THE GIANT

written by THORNE PETERS

There he stood, a giant of a man behind the legend

With a voice like thunder that was rolling through the hevans.

Two men; two voices linked for the ages; through all time;

Hope, triumph, tragedy and glory found them side by side.

The Giant once gave a young man a ticket he couldn't afford

So he could hear The Giant's rumbling voice sing praise to the Lord

The boy who would be King said, "One day I'll have you sing for me."

And a smile crossed The Giant's face, for he had said it so humbly

And when that moment came, at the young Legend's darkest hour;

When his spirit needed uplifting through God's musical power;

The Giant stood by him and sang hymns at his mother’s graveside;

Comforting him with love and prayer and holding him while he cried.

Over the years and across the miles they forged the deepest bond;

Of respect, friendship, devotion, worship, and the love of song.

Rock'n Roll, Blues,Ballads, Country, Gospel, man they sang it all;

At Graceland, on planes, in hotel rooms and sold out concert halls

The King thanked The Giant for allowing him to share his stage.

And now it was The Giant who was humbled by honored praise.

Tragically and too soon, the laughter and music came to an end;

And the broken-hearted Giant sang at the grave of The Legend

From that moment, to his last, The Giant sang out loud with love

Of The Legend he had known on Earth and to God up above

And now they have rejoined in Heaven, as it was on Earth

The Legend and The Giant in a never ending concert . . .

THE FIRST NOEL AT GRACELAND

written by THORNE PETERS

The first noel at Graceland was a festive time indeed;

For a boy from a shack as big as the nativity scene.

Lights and bulbs and tinsel trimmed the house and yard and trees

There were presents for and from fans, friends and family

A decorative missive wished a Merry Christmas to the fans

Without whom there would've been no First Noel at Graceland

His gift was to sing the wonderful world of Christmas

So millions could spend the holidays listening to ELVIS

For ELVIS the greatest gift was his newfound ability

To count out one hundred, thousand dollar bills for charity

On Christmas was served a feast of turkey, stuffing and ham

On the tree amid the lights hung "Greetings" from Uncle Sam

On Christmas night explosions were heard throughout the house

As a pile of fireworks exploded and needed to be doused

ELVIS spent many years at Graceland basking in holiday glee

With Dodger, his father, his wife and beloved Lisa Marie

But the first Noel at Graceland was one of loving remembrance

The only one spent there with his cherished mamma, Gladys

And now we gather at the gates for the ceremony of the lights

From the day after Thanksgiving Graceland shines, till January 9th
